AQS Quilt Show - Quilt Week 2017 - Paducah, Kentucky

In case you missed it on Facebook, here is a slideshow recap of my week in Paducah!!!! It was quite a week with three quilts that I quilted being accepted into the show, which is an honor just to get there, and then, two of the three quilts received ribbons, whoo-hoo!!!  I think my insides did the happy dance all week!!!

The quilt that I accepted the award for on stage was made by Gail Smith from Illinois and it received third place honors in the Large Quilt Category.  I have quilted for Gail for a couple of years and have never met her in person, and I finally got to do that this week as well.  It was such a pleasure to talk with her, she is so sweet and so very talented.  An added bonus during the award presentation was that the raffle quilt I quilted for the Austin Area Quilt Guild received first place honors in the Group Category!!!  Double the fun!!!  The classes and lectures were awesome and my friends, Sherri & Vickie, who were there to share it with me just kept the fun going!!!  I even got interviewed by AQS and so I just had to share them here along with the actual awards ceremony, just too much fun!!

It was good to get back home, but it is a week I will remember forever!!!

SPECIAL EXHIBIT - INTERNATIONAL UQUILT SHOW - HOUSTON, TEXAS 2014
Earlier in 2014 I was asked to quilt these applique quilts that were original designs by Frances Benton.  Mrs. Benton passed away several years ago and these original design applique quilt tops were in her collection and donated to the Texas Quilt Museum. There were 15 quilts in her collection, two of which had been completed by her and the remaining 13 quilts were quilted by others.  I was lucky enough to have the honor of quilting three of these beautifully appliqued quilts.

STARS OVER TEXAS QUILT SHOW - ABILENE, TEXAS
JUNE, 2014

Best of Show this year was awarded to Diane Hawley of Abilene, Texas for her Anniversary Quilt for her husband.  She made a quilt like this one for a friend and her husband liked it so much that she made him one for their anniversary.  When she gave it to me to quilt, she indicated she wanted custom work on it so, knowing that it was an anniversary gift, what better quilting motif than an double wedding ring!

The Guild Challenge quilt category was won by Charlene Harrison from Abilene and I received a second place ribbon on my Jo Morton retreat quilt!

2013 Machine Quilters Showcase - Wichita, Kansas

Picture
For those of you who are not familiar with the Machine Quilter's Showcase (MQS), it is a quilt show presented by the International Machine Quilters Association each year in Kansas.  It is strictly a machine quilted show and the entries are awarded ribbons based primarily on the quilting style and execution.
I entered a quilt, Ruffled Roses pieced by Mary Clendennen and appliqued by Angela Steiner, both from Marble Falls, and of course, quilted by me!  It received a First Place Ribbon in the Traditional Standard Custom division.  Upon return of the quilt, it had also received an additional ribbon for piecing.  Whoo-hoo!!

This is a tremendous honor for me, since the blue ribbon was awarded primarily for the quilting, I am so excited!!!  This quilt has also received other honors at other shows, and you can scroll down and see pictures of the front, but since the quilting is more visible on the back, I am posting an enlarged picture of the center of the back of this quilt so that you can better see the quilting.  Since I didn't make it to Kansas for the show, I don't have a picture of the quilt with the ribbons, but I do have a picture of the ribbons which are pictured to the right.
