Ever seen a really cool looking ruler or other fancy gadget and thought to yourself, "this looks interesting, but how do I use it and what would I use it for and, after I get it home would I actually be able to use it?"  This is section is your resource for seeing how those cute little things work!!!  This is also where you will find my quilting videos as well!  I have recorded a few that are in editing and will be posting them here as they become available.  Just scroll down to find those!

I have included herein demonstration videos for the specialty rulers that are currently available on my site.  Just roll over the Tutorials tab and the sub categories will appear and click on the demo you want to view.  These videos are also included throughout the site in the section where the product is sold.  View them over and over and refer to them after you get your new toy if you have any questions!

LONGARM QUILTING TUTORIALS
This is a work in progress, as I get new quilting videos I will be posting them here!

The first video is an instructional video on how to use the Baptist Fan quilting ruler that I designed.  If you're like me, you love the look of the traditional Baptist Fan quilting design, but the curves don't touch on the pantographs and the rulers are either big and bulky and hard to use, or to small to hold still.   I think I have tried every ruler on the market and discovered that they slip and slide or they have too many pieces.  I have expended an extremely large amount of time on a simple edge to edge design using these methods.  So, I now have the Baptist Fan Ruler.  It is a one piece ruler, easy to maneuver, and faster than other methods.  Even though this is an edge to edge design, it is not an edge to edge fee for customers.  I am still using a ruler and it requires more time than a pantograph or free-hand meandering, so the cost is relative to the time.  However, it sews out a really nice, consistent Baptist Fan design.

To begin, put your quilt in the frame and roll it all the way to the bottom.  This ruler works best starting from the bottom of the quilt.  Be sure keep the tension on the fabric and the batting taut while you're rolling the quilt, it makes it easier to handle during the quilting process.  Feel free to send me any questions you may have at quiltswithaheart@gmail.com.  Hopefully the video will explain what you need to know about this awesome ruler!

Crosshatch Ruler Videos

Double Cross-hatch Design
I have a Crosshatch and Ditch ruler that is my go to ruler.  I don't have all the videos completed for the uses of this ruler, but I will be adding videos as I receive them.  This is a very versatile ruler with many uses, crosshatch, flying geese, ditchwork, framework and the list goes on.

This video shows you the basic steps to using the long cross-hatch ruler to create the cross-hatch design in a wide border.  This design is a great border designs, especially if your border is a busy print.  The cross-hatch design shows up well where other types of quilting may disappear in the print.  You can use the short cross-hatch ruler for ditch work, stitching 1/4" from the ditch and cross-hatch in smaller areas of the quilt.  It's my go to ruler for all general ruler work.

The Cross-hatch Ruler Triangle Feature.
The small cross-hatch ruler has a triangle cut out feature in it and I am asked often what that is used for, and while I attempt to explain, I can tell it just doesn't make sense.  This video is a quick look at one of the uses of this triangle feature.  I realized as I was working on a quilt where this feature was useful that a quick video would explain it better than I can.  When using a ruler for these small diamond (or square) shapes, with a regular ruler you would have to flip the ruler from side to side a lot.  This triangle piece lets you shift your hand from side to side instead of the ruler which, in turn, saves time.
